I've been toying with the idea of a giveaway, partially inspired by Leah and partially inspired by my love of all things Easter. I love Easter so much that my youngest child is 20 and I still insist on coloring eggs every year. I buy everyone in the house an Easter basket, and frankly, they're kind of tired of it. So it's your turn - well, one of you, anyway! Maybe two if I'm having fun with the thing.
So, here's the deal - leave me a comment on why you love (or hate) Easter. If you don't celebrate Easter, you can substitute the spring holiday of your choice. One of you (maybe two) will win an assortment of runner's Easter basket (or spring basket, if you don't celebrate Easter) goodies. I probably won't send an actual basket on the assumption that you'd rather see me spend that money on goodies. However, Easter shopping has been known to make me a little crazy, so there is no telling what you'll get!
For extra entries, follow my blog (leave a comment telling me you're a follower) and post this on your blog, or FB, or Twitter. I'll draw a winner on April 3rd. Good luck, everyone!
Easter is one of my favorite holidays because of the spring weather, celebration of color in foods (so many different colors, some natural & some artificial).
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child it also meant getting together with family that we didn't usually see at other holidays. My great uncle would organize an Easter Basket hunt for all the women & children, which was very memorable too.

ReplyDeleteI don't really care for Easter, but I will tell you I like it because the daffodils are in bloom.
ReplyDeleteLinking your giveaway on my blog under imaginary giveaways. This one is really fun, you are so creative.

ReplyDeleteTerri - I asked my kids to give me a butt massage and they said it sounded too creepy :D
ReplyDeletehehe. They agreed to walk on me, though!
I was thinking the same thing - about calling my chiro...but it seems like a really weird area to have the massage therapists work on...
Fun! I love everything about Easter but especially watching the kids hunt for eggs. And of course Reeses PB eggs! Yum!

ReplyDeleteEaster has always been special to me, because my ENTIRE family gets together the night before to color eggs. Then the next day we all get together for church in the morning with Papa (he will be 99 in Aug). After church we go to Papa's house for Easter lunch, easter egg hunting and time with family. This is something we have done since I was a child and now my son, nephew & niece are a part of this long standing tradition.
Here's why Easter is special to me: I am 33 years old. My husband is 32. My brother is almost 28. My mom still gets us Easter baskets (with awesome stuff -- last year I got three pairs of running shorts, running socks and an REI gift card) and we still dye eggs. Plus I generally get to see every relative I've ever had, without all the gift pressure of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAlso I forgot to say that I am a follower.

ReplyDeleteI love Easter because it gives us another chance to buy candy and say it's for the little baskets, when it's really just for us since they don't eat a whole lot!
ReplyDeleteEaster means two things to me: Spring and CANDY!!! Two very good things in my book!

ReplyDeleteMy fav thing about Easter is hunting for my Easter Basket on Easter morning. Yes, my mom still hides my Easter basket for me to find.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Easter! It's too depressing a holiday, at least in Greece. Also, I don't eat lamb, never had, so I have starved every single Easter Sunday I can remember. At least we used to have a 2-week school break for the Easter and the weather was nice and warm. That was my favorite thing! :-)

ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Easter, however lame it may be, is that I can get Starburst jelly beans. Can't seem to find them any other time of the year around here.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy hiding the kids Easter baskets and waiting for them to find them in the morning!

ReplyDeletePre-Easter week is crazyfun because we get to make tie-dyed eggs with the kids and little treat baskets for their friends. Green plastic grass everywhere! Then us older girls do cookie night, baking piles of cookies from our old family recipes. Somehow various liqueurs always seem to make their way into the recipes. ...and sometimes our coffee cups too...always makes better cookies! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Easter-partly because of Lent and it’s reminders of why we celebrate it but also because I usually give up sweets or chocolate and I binge on the cadbury mini-eggs (candy coated chocolate ones-not the filled stuff) and reeses peanut butter eggs. :):)

ReplyDeleteHonestly, Easter has never really been an important holiday for me as an adult; I never came home for it when I was living in Chicago. But now that I'm home I do enjoy the big family get-together my parents host. More than anything I enjoy the memories of my childhood Easters, hunting for eggs and Easter baskets with my cousins.

ReplyDeleteI love easter because it makes me think of new beginnings.

ReplyDeleteEaster for me is all about Jesus! I love it mostly for that reason. But I also love that it means spring is upon us, beautiful weather, blooming flowers and of course Cadbury mini eggs (only a few though!).
ReplyDeleteOk, I tried posting this to my new Wordpress site and was unsuccessful. I am back to the drawing board with that and will let you know when I get it up. I'm gonna need some expert help. ha

ReplyDeleteI love Easter for many reasons:
ReplyDelete*Starburst Jelly Beans
*buying my dad Peeps - he LOVES them!
*getting out the fine china that I love at my mother-in-laws
*the AMAZING and up-lifting music at Easter Sunday Mass
*as a kid, Easter meant a new dress for mass on Sunday
*did I mention Starburst Jelly Beans :)
Cool idea for a giveaway!
You sound like my mom... she loves to go decorating-crazy around holidays. However, I do LOVE me some Easter. It probably has to do with the good weather combined with chocolate. Now that's a great combo!

ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about Easter! chocolate bunnies, new clothes, a day at grandma's house. It's all good!

ReplyDeleteAs a kid I celebrated Easter, and I absolutely LOVED dressing up and going to church that day. It was the only day us girls got to wear our fluffy dresses and white gloves. Ah, memories!

ReplyDeleteI used to love Easter for the candy, and I have fond memories of Easter egg hunts in a friend's backyard, but now we don't seem to celebrate it much anymore. Now I celebrate spring because it's a chance to wiggle my toes in the mud.

ReplyDeleteI'm not religious, so it doesn't really have that deep meaning to me, but I love the idea of new beginnings, and freshness that comes with Easter.
ReplyDeleteI love Easter, because it symbolizes the beginning of the Spring/Summer season for me. I think about when I was little and how we used to spend the day hiding eggs in the yard, and then my mom would always cook something really good that afternoon. Funny how all of my childhood memories revolve around food! LOL!

ReplyDeleteWhat I love about Easter - http://vanessaruns.com/2010/04/06/post34/
ReplyDeleteEntry 1) Easter is probably my favorite holiday. Of course, I love what the holiday represents ~ my Savior Jesus and what he did for me ~ but I've also always loved the BASKET of goodies, the pretty pastel colors of everything, as a kid, getting the new (often homemade) Easter dress. We used to spend the days before Easter cutting out all the Easter rabbits from the sales ads and making a collage of them. Always so fun!
ReplyDeleteEntry 2) I'm following you now!

ReplyDeleteI love the family get-together for lunch on Easter Sunday. We have a bring and share, the children do an egg treasure hunt and its a lovely relaxed day.
ReplyDeleteI love Easter because of what it means spiritually. The baskets and fancy brunch are nice too, but I still see it as a holiday to celebrate the miracle of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteDid that sound preachy? I didn't mean it to.
I follow your blog now.
ReplyDeleteI love Easter it a sign that spring is here. All the beautiful colors that come from new growth starting.

ReplyDeleteI love Easter, coloring the eggs, hiding the eggs and all the fun treats. Best of all I love the challenge of creating a creative basket with things that my kids actually need. Thanks for the opportunity to win something fun!
ReplyDeleteWe love Easter too! My daughter is 21 and my son is 18... I still make them color eggs and hunt for them in the backyard on Easter morning {eye-roll here}, lol!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Easter. Mmmm Reese's Eggs! Where I live, the Ritz-Carlton hosts a huge Easter Egg Hunt for children of all ages & it is just the sweetest thing to be part of. I also love Easter because of the actual reason for the holiday; Jesus' Resurrection! Jesus is the reason for the season and I'm beyond thankful for His sacrifice and eternal life:)
ReplyDeleteI love easter only because of the peeps and now they make chocolate covered peeps! YUM!!!
